Project: Renaissance
Due Dates:
Day 1: Group and role assignments
Day 2: Topics and update on progress
Day 3: Finalize product
Outline:
Your group will be responsible for a “magazine” summarizing the accomplishments of 3 Renaissance figures. Each group will be graded on how well they work together. Individual grades will be modified by how much work their submission reflects. The magazine can be a digital copy (word doc, Google Drive, Glogster, iMovie, etc..) or a hard copy (book, poster, etc…). All project formats should be cleared with the teacher.
Roles:
Each group will consist of 3 people, each with a different task
Cover editor: Responsible for
- Designing a cover in the style of a Renaissance artist. (This design is flexible, but ideas must be approved.)
- Finding pictures of the people studied.
- Organizing sources on a citation page and proofreading.
Authors (2): Responsible for
- Researching figures from the Renaissance (artist, inventor and/or author) and writing a 200 word summary of the accomplishments and impact of the subject
o Accomplishments: What did the subject produce that is special?
o Impact: How did this person change the world in which he lived?
Group Leader (in addition to one of the above roles, 1 person will be a Group Leader)
- One person will also be made group leader in addition to their other role and this person will be responsible for organizing updates and putting together the final copy.
Summary:
All group members will be involved in answering the following questions.
- Why should your group’s subjects be considered important?
- What did your groups’ subjects have in common?
- What did each of you discover that you hadn’t expected?
- What sources did you find useful?
What’s being turned in?
A magazine with the following elements
- a cover designed like a Renaissance artist
- 3 pages with a summary of a different Renaissance figure complete with picture of that figure (if applicable) and a sample of their work.
- A summary page answering the questions above
- A page of sources organized in MLA format. (Please see Mrs. Merritt when you begin your citations. I suggest you compile these as you go.)
Possible Renaissance subjects:
Each group must pick one person from each category. If you and another group pick the same subject, you may be forced to change. In order to avoid that, get organized quickly. You may also select someone not listed, provided it is approved by me first.
